No. 0971 Ability to Read between the Lines

Lines are fluid to most Egyptians.

In Egypt, one quickly develops the fantastic Egyptian ability to read between the lines. Not much gets pulled over on Egyptians. Maybe they are used to knowing that what is said is usually not what is, or will be. And so, there is a skeptic in each Egyptian that can see through what a lot of gullible Canadians like myself would immediately take at face value. Whether its the latest local headlines, the world news, a business negotiation (Egyptians are great negotiators--will save for another post), or an overblown story by a neighbor. Living here after a time certainly helps one to navigate the lines more deftly.
