No. 0938 Egyptian Bread

Egyptian bread is a great way to put on weight.
but not because its necessarily so fattening, but because it just tastes so good once you start eating it it is really darn hard to stop. The bread is something of a cross between lebanese bread (aish shemi) and Indian naan bread. It is super delicious with hummus, baba ganouj, cheese, pickled lemons, and even nutella.

It is also fascinating to watch them make the bread in the little stone ovens, since my daughter was just a baby I could keep her interested for hours just watching them make the bread. Another fascinating thing is to see delivery men riding on bicycles in the busy streets of Cairo, balancing large wooden racks on their heads as they ride with loaves upon loaves of bread stacked on top.
